I’ll try & make it quick… but we all know that’s not my forte … 😉
I was born in Providence, RI but moved to Iowa City, Iowa when I was 4 so my dad could work at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. (Go Hawks!!) After high school I decided to stick around Iowa City go to the University of Iowa for my education degree. I also double majored in Fine Art with an emphasis in photography. After receiving my education degree, I moved to Des Moines, Iowa. I was a one-on-one with a little guy with Autism. While the job was incredibly rewarding and I do not regret one minute of it, something was really missing for me. I realized it was photography. I felt like a piece of me was missing (I know, really cliche, right?) But I knew this was my chance to make a change, and to pursue my dream career. I can always return to teaching, but I needed to see where I could take photography – or more importantly, where photography could take me … So I packed my car full of everything it would hold, and drove across half the country from the comforts of the midwest to Boston to attend Boston University’s Center for Digital Imaging Arts in the fall of 2008. If you’re wondering, I absolutely fell in love with Beantown!! (Though the midwest will always keep a piece of my heart.)
After working with and learning from some of the leaders in the photographic industry, I received my Professional Photography Certificate from BU in May of 2009. From there emerged Ruby Shoes Photography, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to see where photography can push me! Working with other photographers is one of the best ways to continue to grow as a professional, and I am constantly doing my best to keep things fresh and new. I am always open to interesting and fun photographic projects, so if you are interested please contact me (via the Reach Me! link via the menu bar)!
I look forward to hearing from you!
